Oh, the vintage shop; place of untold treasures, unusual trinkets, and the occasional haunted ouija board that might make you attempt to commit murder. Abigail Blackmore's wonderfully clever and funny short Vintage Blood takes us inside just such a shop. It's played at numerous festivals (including FrightFest, for which I am the short films programmer), won awards including the Audience's Choice at Triforce Short Film Festival and Best Screenplay at Unrestricted View Film Festival, it is now available to watch online.
Indira Varma (Game of Thrones, Rome) runs a sweet little shop in a typical London side street, and one day a strange customer (a wonderful cameo by Sophie Thompson) leaves behind a ouija board. But this particular board seems to be cursed, and the shop owner must go to extreme lengths in order to save the man she loves.
Blackmore perfectly blends some pretty great jump-scares with a dry British wit that is both understated and laugh-out-loud funny. So if you're having a dreary Monday, take 10 minutes and prepare for thrills and chills!
