Actor Martinez
An intriguing exploration of the intersections of art, life, cinema and performance, Actor Martinez features co-directors Nathan Silver and Mike Ott, as well as actors Arthur Martinez and Lindsay Burdge, "playing themselves." What that actually means, as well as the fine line between artistic collaboration and exploitation, are but two of the thorny issues raised by this often challenging film that will be fascinating for some (as it was for me), exasperating for others. - Christopher Bourne

Don't Think Twice
Mike Birbiglia's look at the world of imrpov comedy premiered to solid buzz outta SXSW. And with a cast that includes comedy faves Keegan-Michael Key, Gillian Jacobs, Chris Gethard and Kate Micucci why wouldn't it? I adored Birbiglia's first feature, the low-key and oddball Sleepwalk with Me, so I'm excited to see what he can do with an ensemble of such talent. - Ben Umstead

Nerdland
In this sly, subversive, seriously funny animated satire, two super-underachieving n'er-do-wells (voiced by Paul Rudd and Patton Oswalt), realizing to their horror that their 30th birthdays are rapidly approaching without their having made their mark on the world, set out to achieve fame - or infamy, if need be - by any means necessary. The point hammered home in Nerdland - namely, that in the era of the Kardashians and the Real Housewives, fame no longer requires even the slightest modicum of discernible talent or achievement - is hardly revelatory, but this renders its scenario no less trenchant or hilarious.- Christopher Bourne

As I Open My Eyes
Director Leyla Bouzid charts the story of a young Tunisian rock musician as she balances her traditional family life and the politically charged lone she leads on stage. While the last few years have seen a number of Arab Spring inspired fictions, Bouzid's musical angle looks to make As I Open My Eyes a refreshing, electric take on the revolution. - Ben Umstead
