Arrow UK has a rather prominent place in the Pretty Packaging series of articles, as they are currently one of the frontrunners in the art of disc-pimping worldwide. Their releases tend to be low on trinkets but high on (cardboard) fibre, with loads of interesting contents for fans and collectors alike. Their new dual format Limited Release of Brian Yuzna's
Bride of Re-Animator does not buck that trend, nor does it disappoint. Like their release of Yuzna's
Society last year, this one is a keeper!
You get the film on Blu-ray and DVD, in different versions (unrated and R-rated), in new 2K transfers, and loads of extras, including old and new commentaries. And they included the 1992
Dawn of the Re-Animator graphic novel, which I think is very very cool.
Here is a gallery of shots. Click on the edge of the pictures to scroll through them, or at the center of each to see a bigger version.
And here it is: a black cardboard box with eerie green lines on it.
Nicely embossed green lines though!
In the box there are the digipak and a 96-page graphic novel.
All contents opened: The digipak reveals not just its three discs, but also another booklet and the certificate of authenticity.
The booklet is 24 pages, and has a great essay on the film in it by Michael Blyth.
All sides of the digipak, inside and out, are covered in fun Lovecraftian green sketches.
A closer look at the 96-page graphic novel, titled Re-Animator: Dawn of the Re-Animator.
This is a reprint of the 4-issue limited series published in 1992 by Adventure Comics, and all the pages and (colored) covers are there. A damn fun extra to have with the film!
The end... or was it? This is Re-Animator after all, and who knows what Arrow plans with the other sequels...
