Deadline reported last night that Peter Serafinowicz has been cast as The Tick in Amazon's pilot and an attempt to revive the cult favorite superhero.
Serafinowicz is arguably one of England's great comedic talents. Yet he has had only a number of small supporting roles to his credit on this side of the pond (Spy and Guardians of the Galaxy) and is due to be more than 'that guy from that movie' and 'he did the voice of who?' Or perhaps I am underestimating the talented mimics' global reach. A guy here at work was looking over my shoulder and said, "Hey. That guy is pretty funny".
Serafinowicz already carries street cred in the global geek community already and this property has a devoted following, albeit perhaps a slightly older one now. It is time to expose a new generation to the joys of Ben Edlund's superhero universe.
