Mad Max: Fury Road also had a great night, winning four awards for Editing, Costume Design, Make-up & Hair and Production Design, but it lost out in the Best Visual Effects category to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Todd Haynes' Carol, which had garnered the most nominations of any film, went home empty-handed.
Brie Larson won the Best Actress award for Room, while Mark Rylance was named Best Supporting Actor for Bridge Of Spies and Kate Winslet beat out Alicia Vikander to repeat her Golden Globes success and win the Best Supporting Actress prize for Steve Jobs. Spotlight won Best Original Screenplay, while The Big Short won Best Adapted Screenplay and Ennio Morricone's score for The Hateful Eight won Best Original Music. Brooklyn was named Outstanding British Film of the year, while Star Wars actor John Boyega won the EE Rising Star award - voted for by the public.
Amy was named Best Documentary, while Wild Tales collected the prize for Best Film Not In The English Language. Inside Out won Best Animated Film
