SKIPTRACE: Jackie Chan And Johnny Knoxville Take The Long Way To Hong Kong In New Trailer

Jackie Chan has been trying to break into the Hollywood mainstream for decades, with wavering results. The best efforts always come when he partners up with an American co-star, with Chris Tucker and Owen Wilson fulfilling those duties in the Rush Hour and Shanghai films respectively. More recently, however, Chan - who remains a massive draw in mainland China - has been trying a slightly different tactic: casting American stars in Chinese productions to help them crossover to the West. Last year John Cusack and Adrien Brody starred in the ridiculous period adventure Dragon Blade, and now Johnny Knoxville - together with director Renny Harlin - are trying their luck with Skiptrace.

Knoxville plays the innocent gambler on a trip to Macau, who witnesses a murder that puts Chinese gangsters on his tail. It is up to a Hong Kong detective (Chan) to save Knoxville's skin, only for the pair to end up tearing across all of China in a desperate bid to stay alive. The cast includes Asian stars such as Fan Bingbing, Eric Tsang and the delightful Michael Wong, but Harlin hasn't had a decent hit since the 90s - so this one could go either way. With a script co-written by BenDavid Grabinski - creator of the sensational short Cost Of Living - there is a glimmer of hope, but this has been in production for years, and judging by this trailer, Skiptrace will need to be an old school stunt-tacular if it's truly going to win over audiences.

Skiptrace opens in China later this month.
