Hey, Screenwriters! The Tasmanian Gothic Short Script Challenge Is On!

Dust off your laptops, tablets, notepads, paper and pens! The Tasmanian Gothic Short Script Challege is back, and wants your new screenplays! As part of Stranger With My Face Festival, the contest challenges you to write a short screenplay in 48 hours, with enough originality to impress the jury (which this year includes myself, Stephanie Trepanier of Snowfort Pictures, screenwriter and producer Simon Barrett, and festival director Briony Kidd). Past winners include Little Lamb by Heidi Lee Douglas, Mrs Chang's Perfect Teeth by Karen Lam, and The Life and Times of Teddy Whalley by Mike Wedderburn.

The challenge is open to writers from around the world, both women and men. The script can be no more than 7 pages, with a prompt quote, an object, and a character description to get your creative juices flowing. There are prizes for Best Australian Script and Best International Script. Registration is now open March 2nd, with the challenge taking place March 4th - 6th (dates are those in Australia, so be sure you do the math for time difference!)

Stranger With My Face festival is now open for feature and short film submissions (only films either directed by a woman or featuring a woman in a creative role are accepted). It is also open for press and industry accreditation, and who wouldn't want to go to this amazing festival in such a beautiful part of the world.

Full rules and regulations are on the website below. So screenwriters, accept the challenge and let your imagination take off!
