Roel Reiné's naval epic Admiral is being released on VOD and digital download on February 23, 2016 and in select theaters on March 11, 2016. We have an exclusive clip to share with you below.
In the scene the de Witt brothers, Johan and Cornelis, are dragged out into the streets by a crowd loyal to the crown prince of Holland. Johan de Witt was the Prime Minister at a time when Republicans and Orangists were going at each other's throats for control of the country while their navy, led by Admiral titular character Micheil de Ryuter, fought the British and French at sea.
The brothers were subsequently tortured, killed and then put on display, an event captured in the painting The Corpses of the De Witt Brothers, attributed to Jan de Baen. This scene is only the beginning; it gets more gruesome and barbaric after this.
Enjoy!
