FAST AND FURIOUS 8: STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON's F. Gary Grey Enters Exclusive Talks To Take Over Franchise

After, what, a day of speculation on which director would take over the franchise, THR is reporting that Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray has entered into exclusive talks with Universal to take over the 'we can print our own money' Fast and Furious franchise.

Gray looks to have beat out other short list directors Louis Leterrier, William Eubank and oddly enough The Guest's Adam Wingard. Gray has worked with Vin Diesel in the past, on the 2003 action film A Man Apart. Gray's other work in the action-thriller genre include The Italian Job, The Negotiator and Law Abiding Citizen

Diesel met with Gray yesterday and took the picture which you see above and posted on his Facebook page. The report at THR notes that Diesel does not have final say on who directs any of the films but is consulted on all major decisions for the franchise.
