This week, Ken Kwapis'
A Walk in the Woods gets released in cinemas, an adaptation of Bill Bryson's popular book. Peter Martin had a lot of fun with the film, and
in his review here he praises the (un)easy camaraderie between its two stars Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. A great excuse to have our weekly quiz be about either of those two, as they're both great, and flipping a coin yielded Nick Nolte!
In a career spanning over four decades, Nick Nolte has been used as everything: action hero, villain, strong guy, weak guy, moral beacon, and asshole. Results have varied in the past, but just when you expect you've seen the end of him, and you think he'll probably retire into B-films playing a cuddly lump of granite, he will suddenly return and kick your ass with a surprising and award-winning performance.
So once again I'm going to use fourteen pictures of one of my favourite thespians to make a quiz. Click through the images, and guess which movies they're from. No competition, no prizes, just for fun, try to see how far you get without using IMDb!
And I'll post the answers next Thursday, or earlier if someone gets all fourteen of them right.
And here he is in A Walk in the Woods as Stephen Katz, Bill Bryson's long-suffering "friend".
This picture doesn't count yet for the quiz, but all others do. So please browse through the gallery: click on the edge of the picture to get the next one, and see how many of them all you can identify!
And we begin, with quiz picture number one:
