There are fans of Mike Flanagan's work (Absentia and Oculus) here at ScreenAnarchy so we anticipate anything new from the director, even if it is a budding new franchise like Ouija. THR reported earlier today that Flanagan has found himself attached to write and direct the next installment in the supernatural board game adaptations.
Yes, despite be lambasted by critics that first film, a 'lemming movie' if ever there was one (despite the dangers ahead you still jumped off that proverbial cliff and saw the damned thing), the first Oujia film somehow managed to scare up $102 million worldwide gross. And when production companies like Blumhouse made it for a measly $5 million then why the fekk not make another! Everyone from Universal to Hasbro are back on board and want to take more of your money. We did this to ourselves!
The silver lining here is that Ouija 2 will be a reunion of talent from Flanagan's Oculus crew, which we liked very much. He will co-write the script with regular partner Jeff Howard. And Annalise Basso, who played the young Kaylie in Oculus will take one of the lead roles. Everyone stays gainfully employed. So. Huzzah to them!
