'Lude Behavior is now an upcoming action crime thriller about the drug trade between Montreal and Miami in the 80s. It will tell the story of a Jai Alai player in Miami who gets caught up in a drug smuggling scheme for a Montreal crime family.
The Gauthier brothers (Renaud and Mathieu) had one of the best and most polished pitches at the market where they described their film as 'Goodfellas French Canadian Bro style". I believe that even though this will be a Quebecois film at its very heart (the Quebecois film industry is an entity unto its own in Canada and is self sustaining) I agree that there is a lot of cross country and cross border appeal to it.Murray states: "this story is rich with social commentary about the long black market history between Canada and the US - most notably in this case between Québec and Florida - and that's something we just haven't seen before.""Out of all the fantastic people we met at Frontières, fellow Montrealer Frank Murray stood out with his on-set experience, firm grasp and in-depth knowledge of the U.S. film industry," says director Renaud Gauthier. "Our project has a wide American appeal and our ensuing partnership all fell into place very smoothly.""We are thrilled that 'LUDE BEHAVIOR found a producing partner so quickly at Frontières this year," comments market & industry director Lindsay Peters. "the Gauthier brothers did a fantastic job pitching the project. This partnership is an ideal fit and we're very excited to see the great potential of this story fully realized."
I am very much looking forward to a trip back to 80s Montreal and Miami.
