Last night it became official. Deadline reported that Redmayne is officially attached to the project. He will play Newt Scamander, the author of the book by the same name that Potter and his chums use in their films. This prequel takes place some 70 years before Potter enrolls into Hogwarts. The script marks Rowling's screenwriting debut.
Returning from the Potter universe is David Yates, who directed the last four Potter films and producer David Heyman, who produced every Potter film.
Warner Bros. set a release date for November 18th, 2016.
