Exclusive: Watch Short Film SWITCHED - For One Week Only!

Short films are often perceived as little more than a filmmaker's calling card: make a short, maybe two, then move on to a feature. But short films are an artform unto themselves, and in many ways far more difficult than features. If not in terms of production, certainly in terms of storytelling. You have less time to tell your story, and need to create a full narrative often in less than 15 minutes.

US filmmaker Iain Marcks has just finished his third short, Switched, and has been kind enough to let ScreenAnarchy post it for your viewing pleasure. Marcks decided to delve into the often difficult territory of the rape-revenge story. But rather than just repeat the usual horror tropes, he did his homework, including reading up on Carol Clover and discussing the topic with Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, who has written a critical study on these films. Certainly not an easy topic, and there are good and sadly a lot of bad films on the subject. But it's a topic that Marcks approaches with sensitivity and an eye to the female perspective, as well as the consequences of our heavily visual culture.

The film is now available to watch VOD on Fandor. It's fairly SFW, though best viewed in a dark room.
