Sony Looking To THE IMITATION GAME's Morten Tyldum To Take Over PASSENGERS

According to a report over at Deadline Sony is approaching The Imitation Game's Morten Tyldum to take over their space saga, Passengers. The Norwegian director made his English language debut with the WWII set drama about mathematics genius Alan Turing. That film is up for a number of Academy Awards including Best Director and Best Picture. We have been fans of Tyldum since 2011 with his adaptation of Joe Nesbo's novel Headhunters. 

Passengers takes place on a spacecraft transporting thousands of people to a distant colony planet and has a malfunction in one of its sleep chambers. As a result, a single passenger is awakened 90 years before anyone else. Faced with the prospect of growing old and dying alone, he eventually decides to wake up a second passenger, marking the beginning of what becomes a unique love story.

The property has been through the ringer of late. Keanu Reeves and Rachel McAdam were attached at one time with GoT and Boardwalk Empire director Brian Kirk at the helm. Reese Witherspoon was attached to it before that. The studio will cast other actors for the film now.
