The new documentary Bite Size is raising awareness about the childhood obesity epidemic in America. The film releases on March 10th and we have a trailer to share with you.
America's battle against childhood obesity is an issue too big for many to fully comprehend. With 1 in 3 children overweight, the epidemic is sweeping our nation at an unforgiving rate. But in spite of these odds, Bite Size showcases the stories of four inspiring kids from diverse backgrounds who are fighting for their health one day at a time. Proving that it's not just about the number on a scale, what really matters is learning what keeps you active and makes you happy.
Corbin Billings' documentary Bite Size followed two boys, Davion and Moy, and two girls, Keanna and Emily, for two years documenting their struggles to embrace a healthier lifestyle. Bite Size was made to raise awareness about Both the director Corbin Billings and producer Eric Gallegos saw the need for changes to be made in their own personal lifestyles. Gallegos' father was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes and it forced Gallegos to evaluate his own health. Billings, overweight and trying to embrace a healthier lifestyle, was inspired by the change Gallegos made in his own life.
In a director's statement released with the trailer Billings writes,
Bite Size is meant to raise awareness about the childhood obesity epidemic in America, not by shocking audiences with statistics, but by revealing the faces and stories behind the numbers.Bite Size is not just about obesity. It is about how we see ourselves as a society and the legacy we want to leave for our children. The film is sure to spark a long discussion afterwards about healthy parenting. It forces us to look at our habits and decide if we have the courage and good sense to change. Bite Size shows us the door to a different future, but it's up to us as individuals to walk through it, though we won't be alone. The children are there to guide us.
