Always considered one of the front runners for the project, Marvel has now made it official: Benedict Cumberbatch will headline one of Marvel's phase three films, Doctor Strange, according to a report in Variety.
"Stephen Strange's story requires an actor capable of great depth and sincerity," said Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. "In 2016 Benedict will show audiences what makes Doctor Strange such a unique and compelling character."
Doctor Strange's release date is not until November 4th of 2016. Scott Derrickson is directing the film. His experience with the supernatural in films like Sinister and Deliver Us From Evil should compliment the story about Doctor Stephen Strange and his discovery of the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.
