Regarded as the most prestigious awards ceremony for Chinese language cinema, the Golden Horse awards are now in their 51st year, and were handed out at a star-studded affair last night in the Taiwanese capital. While Blind Massage also collected awards for Best Editing, Best Cinematography and Best Sound Effects, actor Chen Jian-bin enjoyed a fantastic night. He was named Best New Director as well as Best Actor for his directorial debut A Fool, and also bagged the Best Supporting Actor prize for his role in Doze Niu's Paradise in Service. Niu's film also won the Best Supporting Actress prize for co-star Wan Qian.
Jimmy Huang won the Outstanding Taiwanese Filmmaker of the Year award, as producer of both Paradise in Service and Kano, actor Tian Feng was given the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Kano - the true story of a mixed-race baseball team from Taiwan who competes in the Japanese championships - won both the FIPRESCI prize and Audience Choice award.
