Mayhem Film Festival Unveils Teen Mayhem And Mayhem Certificate X Programs

As part of their ten years anniversary the Mayhem Film Festival in Nottingham, England is pulling out all the stops to celebrate. In the days leading up to the festival there are two new programs which we mentioned before, Teen Mayhem and Mayhem Certificate X. The lineups for those two programs have now been announced!

Teen Mayhem is a program dedicated to pre-teens and young teenagers, to get them hooked on genre film at an early age. The day will start with a FX make-up workshop with local make-up artist and prop maker Jayne Hyman (makeup fx trainee on Edge of Tomorrow). There will be a screening of Yoshiura Yasuhiro's anime film, Patema Inverted. There will be a special event around CBBC Wolfblood. Members of the cast and crew, including the show's creator Debbie Moon and cast member Kedar Williams-Stirling, take part in a screening, and post-screening masterclass. The day will close with a screening of Joe Dante's 2009 film The Hole 3D. Teen Mayhem takes place on October 25th.

Chris Cooke, Mayhem Co-Director, says: "We all fell in love with horror, science fiction and fantasy when we were younger and Teen Mayhem is a chance for those younger fans to really indulge their passion. It allows them to learn more about the genre, have fun and meet fellow fans, as well as to meet the team responsible for one of CBBC's biggest hit series, Wolfblood, to learn the craft of horror make-up and to catch a couple of really stunning films."

On Sunday 26 October, the mayhem continues with Mayhem Certificate X. This program is Co-curated with Strange Things Are Happening's David Flint. The series of screenings will look at the history and context of the X certificate in films.

Mayhem Certificate X screenings happen one per night, from October 26th through the 30th. They include Brian de Palma's 1980 film Dressed to Kill,  Walerian Borowczyk's 1975 film La BĂȘte, the Hammer FIlm from 1956, X the Unknown and Sam Peckinpah's Straw Dogs from 1971. The day will close with a screening of Jacques Tourneur's film from 1957, Night of the Demon.
