Three of our correspondents who are based in Latin America have kindly provided updates on what's opening in theaters locally in the next week or two, along with posters and trailers. Chile, Peru, and Mexico are represented in those reports.
Those of us who were able to attend Fantastic Fest in Austin enjoyed multiple slices of genre goodness from Latin America. We've gathered the movie posters within and linked to our reviews, where available, to whet your appetite further. Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Spain, and Uruguay are represented in the poster portion of the gallery.

THE NAKED ROOM (aka EL CUARTO DESNUDO), A Powerful Display Of Sadness And Insanity
By Eric Ortiz Garcia
Nuria Ibáñez's documentary The Naked Room (El Cuarto Desnudo) has a very powerful moment in which a little boy is questioned by a psychiatrist about his biggest wishes. The answers are simple and concise but, at the same time, lack that magic innocence that would lead other kids to say something related to toys or fantasy dreams.
Pretty much everything in The Naked Room, including this boy's desires, has to do with love and family. More precisely, the lack of that: all the problems that come with a difficult childhood and that remain, in a way or another, through growth.

The movie opens in Mexico on October 9, and is distributed by Interior 13.
Watch The Teaser Trailer For LA ENTIDAD, The Latest in Peruvian Horror
By Ernesto Zelaya Minano
As I’ve probably mentioned here before, Peruvians love horror movies. Just look at the recently released Secreto Matusita, which managed an audience of 160,000 in its first weekend of release. This gave it the second best ever opening for a local horror film, right behind last year’s Cementerio General, and miles ahead of other worldwide smashes like The Conjuring or the Paranormal Activity series.
The popularity of the genre doesn’t look to be slowing down; La Entidad is already due for release next year, and a teaser trailer has recently been released. Director Eduardo Schuldt is known for working in animation, with children’s movies like Piratas en el Callao (2005), Dragones: Destino de Fuego (2006), The Dolphin: Story of a Dreamer (2009), The Illusionauts (2012), and Freedom Force (2013). Now, he’s trying his hand at scaring people, and this teaser seems like a solid start.
Not much else is known about the film; we’ll have to wait until Summer 2015 to see what it’s about.
