The festival has just announced the first wave of titles for this year's edition and there are a lot of familiar, and, a lot of good, good titles. It's once again time for Scandinavia's leading film festival for films of the fantastique and this year it's our 20th anniversary! We will be celebrating in style with 10 days filled with brilliant films, guests from around the world, parties, seminars and all around fun! As every year we'll also have two competition sections at the festival. Our own The Siren which is awarded to the best International film and The Melies d'Argent awarded to our nominee to the prestigious Melies d'Or which is presented to this years best European fantastic film at the festival in Sitges.
It is beginning to sound repetitive but once again Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett's The Guest will open this festival as well. Out of the island continent of Australia you get the Spierig Brother's latest Predestination and Jennifer Kent's Babadook. Festival goers will also see Sara Adina Smith's quiet thriller The Midnight Swim, the silly Sharknado: The Second One, and from New Zealand the vamp-com What We Do In The Shadows. Rounding off this first wave are a couple of homegrown titles, Faust 2.0 and LFO.
So it looks like another good lineup for Lund so far. When I get home tonight I will raise a glass of Mackmyra whiskey to celebrate!
