Now, I certainly have my soft spots for movies that are not necessarily "good," in a technical or creative sense, yet exude a cheerful desire to please, even if they fall short of their goals. But I can't in all good conscience join in ridiculing such movies; after all, making any movie is hard work for everyone concerned. In my reviews, I tend to I look for the good points, point out the bad points, and let the viewer decide what to do about it.
With that in mind, the first trailer for Sharknado 2: The Second One strikes me as particularly cynical. I ended up watching the first one several months ago and didn't find it to be worth much comment; it's a low-budget affair with low-budget special effects that just isn't my cup of tea. And so watching the trailer for the second one feels like downing a double-sized cup of lukewarm tea.
But, if you enjoy this sort of thing, help yourself. It airs on SyFy on Wednesday, July 30.
