Plan your meal times accordingly around the viewing of Jesse Thomas Cook's Septic Man. Starz Digital Media will be releasing the Canadian potty horror flick on VOD on August 12 and in theaters on August 15.
From the creators of Monster Brawl, Exit Humanity, and Pontypool comes this award-winning origin story of Jack, a sewage worker who's determined to uncover the cause of the town's water contamination crisis. But when he becomes trapped underground in a septic tank without food or water he undergoes a hideous and repulsive transformation. In order to escape the tank, he must team up with a docile Giant and confront a murdering madman. Hailed as a "stunning," "funny," and "visceral story that will leave you shaken - and desperate for a shower," Septic Man is a cinematic odyssey into the darkest depths of horror and beyond.
Our man in Chi-town, Dave Canfield, caught the film on the festival circuit in Austin. This is how he ended his review,
But the old rule goes "garbage in garbage out." simply fails here. Septic Man does indeed feature lots of garbage going in (or at least men going into garbage) but it takes the viewer somewhere totally unexpected and takes on unexpected pathos in the process. It isn't a twist ending per se, just a gentle (an apt but odd word to use here) revelation of what happens when we value some innocuous dream of the future more than we value our own flesh and blood.
