With Bong Joon-ho's
Snowpiercer finally, FINALLY, in theaters on US soil, let's pick one of its many fine actors for this week's quiz. And as
Song Kang-ho and
Tilda Swinton were already covered in the past, we quickly turn to John Hurt.
In
Snowpiercer, John Hurt plays a role he's often done before: a man who is somewhat dilapidated, kind, benevolent, a learned academic, and very, very British. You'd almost forgot he has played an impressive string of villains as well, including some of the foulest dictators and emperors ever to (dis)grace a screen!
Therefore, once again I'm going to use a gallery of ten close-ups of one of my favorite thespians to make a quiz, so click through the images and guess which ten movies they're from. No competition, no prizes, just for fun, try to see how far you get without using IMDb.
And I'll post the answers on Thursday, unless someone names them all correctly...
And here he is in Snowpiercer as Gilliam, the spiritual leader of the downtrodden people in the back of the train.
This shot doesn't count yet as part of the quiz, but all the next ones do. So flick through the gallery and have a go!
And we begin: this is quiz picture number one!
Quiz picture number three.
Quiz picture number four.
Quiz picture number five.
Quiz picture number six. Is that him though? Hard to tell...but apparently it is!
After his first twelve-hour-plus appointment with the special effects make-up department, John Hurt went home and told his wife: "They've finally invented something that makes me hate acting."
Quiz picture number seven.
Quiz picture number eight.
Quiz picture number nine.
And, finally, quiz picture number ten. And we didn't even include some of the most famous ones!
