Ever since 2008's Taken, Liam Neeson has excelled in playing mature action heroes "with a particular set of skills." In the upcoming A Walk Among the Tombstones, however, it looks like he will display a different skill-set.
He's playing Matt Scudder, a former NYPD cop who now works as an unlicensed private investigator. The character was created by the highly-accomplished novelist Lawrence Block and has been featured in a long-running series of books. In this big-screen edition, Scudder is hired by drug dealer Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) to investigate the kidnapping and murder of his wife. The first trailer looks like Scudder's investigation will take him to dangerous places and lead to encounters with dangerous people.
Scott Frank (The Lookout) wrote the screenplay and directed. The movie is due out in theaters on September 19. The poster and trailer are below; click through the gallery to see all the images.
