The folks at the Toronto Japanese Film Festival have just announced their final film to top off their 18 film lineup for their upcoming festival from June 12th through 27th. The 2014 film Black Butler (Kuro Shitsuji), based on Toboso Yana's internationally popular manga and anime Kuroshitsuji, will have its North American premiere at the festival!
Black Butler joins an already impressive lineup of films like Sono Sion's Why Don't You Go Play In Hell? and Miike Takashi's The Mole Song: Undercover Agent Reiji. Tickets for the festival go on sale on May 1st through the festival main site.In the year 2020, orphaned aristocrat Shiori, aided by her handsome but demonic "super-butler" Sebastian, investigate a case of serial murder by mummification and uncover a "black invitation" into an unspeakable world of violence and madness. This gloriously gothic mix of mystery and action is directed by Ohtani Kentaro and Sato Kei-ichi and stars Mizushima Hiro, Goriki Ayane, Ibu Masatô, Yamamoto Mizuki, Yasuda Ken, Yuka, Kishitani Gorô.
