It's Official! EXPENDABLES 3's Patrick Hughes To Direct Screen Gem's Remake Of THE RAID: REDEMPTION

It has been running around the rumor mill for a while now. Today Sony/Screen Gems crossed the T's and dotted the I's and Patrick Hughes, director of the upcoming The Expendables 3 and the terrific Red Hill, is officially signed on to direct their remake of Gareth Huw Evans' international action hit, The Raid: Redemption. 

The new script was written by Out of the Furnace scribe Brad Inglesby. Original Raid producers XYZ Films (this includes our lord and master, Todd Brown) will produce this new film. Evans is on board as an executive producer. And the original fight choreographers and Evans regulars, Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian, will help bring the pain to Hughes' film. 

With this much of the original talent involved in this new project this should quell some fears that the remake will be a butchering of the original. I for one, think a new take on this epic action film is a worthy challenge. Bring it!
