The domestic rights to the flick are held by A24 Films, which will release the film in cinemas in the fall. But Sony pretty much has the rest of the world all wrapped up. They bought rights for the U.K., here in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Italy, Benelux, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, South Africa, Portugal, Spain and Greece.
The horror film stars Justin Long, Haley Joel Osment, Genesis Rodriguez and Michael Parks. Long is a journalist who finds the story of a lifetime in Mr. Howe (Parks), a worldwide adventurer with amazing tales and a curious penchant for walruses.
Tusk was sold by XYZ Films, which has a pretty good standing with Sony after the studio bought a couple of those Raid films from them. I heard those are pretty popular with the kids.
(Full disclosure: Todd Brown, ScreenAnarchy's founder and editor, is a partner in XYZ Films.)
