Steve McQueen's 12 Years A Slave is the year's best drama picture and Alfonso Cuarón the best director (for Gravity), according to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
David O. Russell's American Hustle won big this year at the Golden Globes Awards by taking home three of the most important categories, including Best Picture (Comedy or Musical) and Best Actress (Comedy or Musical). No other picture won as many awards as American Hustle so, indeed, it was a varied ceremony though Dallas Buyers Club got two male acting awards thanks to Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto.
The honorary Cecil B. DeMille Award was given to the living legend Woody Allen and his spectacular filmography. It was introduced by Emma Stone, who stars in Allen's upcoming Magic in the Moonlight, and received by Annie Hall herself, Diane Keaton. Allen never goes to these ceremonies, of course, though Cate Blanchett was also honored for Blue Jasmine.
On the TV side, Breaking Bad said goodbye again to their fans by winning Best Drama Series and Best Actor (Bryan Cranston). Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Behind the Candelabra were the only other series to win a couple of awards, while the ScreenAnarchy folk favorite Top of the Lake was honored for best actress in a miniseries.
