Masacre en Xoco is Cineteca Nacional's annual gift to fans of genre cinema and, actually, the one and only opportunity in Mexico City to watch 35mm prints of both classic and cotemporary horror films. Curated by José Luis Ortega and Mauricio Matamoros Durán, the fourth edition of Masacre en Xoco is this year's last film event in Mexico, taking place from December 26 to 29.
Masacre en Xoco 2013 is dedicated to the Panic Movement, paying special homage to El Topo and The Holy Mountain cinematographer Rafael Corkidi, who sadly passed away in September. Also, South Korea is the guest country and, as previously announced, the genre festival Feratum will share a couple of its titles: Thanatomorphose and Visceral: Between the Ropes of Madness.
Mexican cult filmmaker Juan López Moctezuma is present with 35mm copies of Alucarda and Mary, Mary, Bloody Mary, while films of such famous directors as John Carpenter, John Landis, Alejandro Jodorowsky and Alex de la Iglesia complete what it looks like an amazing and bloody post-Christmas time!
