In a month's time the Morbido International Horror and Fantasy Film Festival will descend upon the colonial town of Pátzcuaro, Mexico, for its sixth edition. The first wave of titles have been announced and as always there will be an excellent selection of international titles and a lot of Latin American talent on display. And we will be at the festival again this year bringing you updates throughout that weekend.
Familiar international titles will include Eugenio Mira's Grand Piano, starring Elijah Wood. Richard Raaphorst's Frankenstein's Army will give festival director Pablo Guisa Koestinger a reason to dust off that uniform he wore for last year's screening of Iron Sky. Swiss vampire flick Chimères looks to take a bite out of the audience. And another familiar international title announced is Livide by the directors of Inside, Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury. Will Richard Stanley return to present his documentary The Other World and roam the streets of Pátzcuaro with his personal demon? Will Nakata Hideo's The Complex put the fear of small bambinos into the crowd?
Also in the first wave of titles are Scott Schirmer's Found and Michael Bartlett's House of Last Things out of the U.S. Out of Argentina we will get to see a couple of films, Sonno Profondo (Deep Sleep?) by Luciano Onetti and Mujer Lobo (She Wolf) by Tamae Garateguy. Remember that Garateguy was one of the directors we got to drunkenly review her own film at Fantastic Fest. Out of the UK we will get to watch the documentary Ray Harryhausen FX Titan by Gilles Penso. From Germany comes horror comedy Zombies From Outer Space. Out of Brazil comes gore fest Mar Negro (Black Sea) by Rodrigo Aragao. And from Colombia we will get to watch the documentary about horror film and Colombian culture, Frankenstein No Asusta En Colombia (Frankenstein No Scares In Colombia) by Erik Zúñiga.
It promises to be another great year at Morbido!
