AnarchyVision: Talking TRANCE and THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES

Ah, the joys of live television - despite skipping 42 (and having told the producers as much earlier in the week) was thrown a curveball without preparation to talk about the Jackie Robinson film that's dominated this weekend's box office. Bonus: Got to talk again about the misguided but still charming Red Tails.

While I've not yet seen it, I do feel that more often than not a proper documentary does a much better job for me than a fiction film in telling a sports story - sure, there are a few exceptions, but even the likes of Ken Burn's epic PBS doc on baseball holds more interest for me than  does this latest film, even if IndyHan Solo is looking particularly over-the-top in this one. You're welcome to let me know in the comments what you thought about it and why!

What I did want to talk about was Danny Boyle's Trance, a film I'm quite fond of indeed, and Derek Cianfrance's The Place Beyond The Pines, which is a film that I came very close to falling for, only to have the rug pulled out from under me with a pretty week conclusion.

Finally, we've finally switched to YouTube for streaming of these segments, so things should work better, especially for our international viewers.

Enjoy!
