HK Filmart 2013: The Wild, the Crazy, and the Hopeful -- In Pictures

While my ScreenAnarchy colleagues Todd Brown, James Marsh, and Pierce Conran have been spending their time watching movies and talking with distributors, sales agents, and filmmakers, I've been free to attend thematic conferences arranged by Filmart and roam the exhibitor floor freely. (And, yes, watch a couple of movies, too!)

In my wanderings, I took photos of whatever caught my eye. I haven't seen very much that was too wild and over the top, but there are certainly a lot of romantic comedies, cop thrillers, martial arts movies, and moody TV shows to go around the world a few times, which I suppose is the whole idea of Filmart, where the industry gathers to fill time slots on hundreds of TV channels and figure out which movies are most likely to fill theaters. The exhibitors are largely grouped according to region, and there are pavilions for China, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and European countries, as well as Canada and other new entrants.
