I first became aware of Considine's considerable talents when watching Shane Meadows' electrifying revenge thriller, Dead Man's Shoes, in which the Staffordshire-born actor is truly terrifying as a squadie returning from service to wreak bloody vengeance on the village locals who messed with his younger brother. Since then, Considine has displayed not only talent, but incredible versatility, taking on straight dramatic roles in films such as Ron Howard's woefully underrated Cinderella Man, but also displaying a winning comedic streak in films like Le Donk & Scor-zay-zee and Submarine. He even proved he can be just as successful behind the camera with last year's triumphant Tyrannosaur, which bagged him a BAFTA for Best Directorial Debut.
Now he will be joining Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Rosamund Pike on the pub crawl to end all pub crawls, as five old schoolmates reunite to tackle obstacles from their past and present, only to discover the future of Mankind is hanging in the balance. Considine's character is allegedly a former ladiesman and musician who has grown up to become a diviorced architect. Edgar Wright directs, from a script he co-wrote with Pegg. Suffice to say that this is wonderful news, as his role in Hot Fuzz - as moustachioed copper Andy Wainwright - was a real highlight in a film chock full of them.
