Noboru Iguchi's DEAD SUSHI to Debut at Fantasia

This announcement somehow managed to slip through the cracks here at ScreenAnarchy Towers, but news that a new Noboru Iguchi film will be having its world premiere at one of our very favourite film festivals simply cannot pass without comment - even if it is a day or two later than originally planned. Dead Sushi, the latest slice of late night bizarro mayhem from the insanely talented director of films like The Machine Girl, Robogeisha and Karate-Robo Zaborgar, will debut on 22nd July at Montreal's prestigious Fantasia International Film Festival, before heading south to Puchon, South Korea for its Asian premiere at PiFan on 26th July.

The film unites the prolific director, whose last film Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead only opened in Japan this past February, with the talents of martial artiste Rina Takeda. The young actress made a splash with her performance in 2008's High-Kick Girl, and in Dead Sushi plays Keiko, the daughter of a legendary sushi chef, who becomes embroiled in a deadly plot of revenge and reanimation when she runs away from home.

Both Iguchi and Takeda will be in attendance in Montreal for the inaugural screening of the film, which also stars Iguchi regulars Kentaro Shimazu, Asami, and Demo Tanaka. We will be sure to catch one, if not both, of the film's festival premieres next month, and on the basis of the trailer it looks to be classic Iguchi - by which we mean absolutely bonkers!
