Hands down one of my most fulfilling film experiences this year Super 8 is a love letter to Spielberg, 80's monster movies, and clunky sentiment that also happens to be wildly entertaining, and for those with an open heart, hugely moving. I love it with almost no reservations. Some are simply going to dismiss this as cheesy but show this to the right person at the right age and what you'll have is the sort of magic experience that helps someone discover they are a true film lover. If I didn't already have it in my hot little hands it would be a major item on the old Christmas list. Packed with extras and looks and sounds, well, this is as good or better than the viewing I had in the theater.
