It sounds like Jonathan Levine (director of The Wackness) might have fallen in with a crew of filmmakers who are really out to get some movies made. Although the Joseph Gordon-Levitt starring 50/50 doesn't come out until September 30th, the creative team behind the film have already inked a deal with 50/50 distributor Mandate Pictures for their next flick. Levine will reteam with Seth Rogen, producing partner Evan Goldberg, and writer Will Reiser for the roadtrip comedy Jamaica.
The story is said to be loosely based on a trip Reiser took with his grandmother to the island as a young teen. Along with directing, Levine will also co-write the script with Reiser. No word yet if Rogen will play a role in the film.
50/50 is based on Reiser's real life battle with cancer and co-stars Anna Kendrick, Anjelica Huston, and Bryce Dallas Howard alongside Gordon-Levitt and Rogen.
