This is the Face of Success! NEW KIDS: NITRO greenlit...

The mulleted guy on the left here is Flip van der Kuil, made up as his "New Kids" alter-ego Barrie Butsers. He is also the writer, editor and co-director of the immensely successful Dutch action-comedy "New Kids: Turbo", which broke records left and right upon its release at the close of 2010. I saw that film in early January, and despite my own expectations I loved it.

That people were speculating about a possible sequel is not a big surprise (duh!), but that Flip has written a script already is news indeed. Apparently he worked on the outline during the filming of "New Kids: Turbo" and yesterday Eyeworks Studios confirmed that the sequel has gone into preproduction. Shooting is expected to start this summer with a December release in mind. Two titles are being considered: "New Kids: Nitro" and "Lachgas" (which means "Laughing Gas", the Dutch name for nitro when used as an anesthetic).
If Eyeworks considers international distribution to be an option I'd suggest they go with the former but hey, that's me.
