I'm reviewing for two reasons. One, I adore Julia Louis Dreyfuss and have been really happy to see her show succeed. It's very, very, funny, surprisingly dark at times and occasionally poignant. In one episode Christine gets set up on a blind date that turns out to be with somebody about 16 years old, it gets just icky enough to have something to say about the nature of getting old and finally being glad to leave youth behind (or at least parts of it).
Two the show is also available via a process Warner has been experimenting with under the banner of Warner Archives. The concept is that if you want something from the archive just email Warner and for a price they will burn you a copy. Mostly Warner Archives has been about older feature films but they have been slowly widening the kind of material available and this could be especially good news for folks who just want a simple no frills DVD copy of their latest shows favorite season.
I don't download show for a lot of reasons. I don't bother with Netflix because 'm a reviewer and already have access to most stuff I want to see. Thus I like this idea alot. And let's face it an awful lot of great TV never makes it to DVD even these days.
