The beginning of the first Indiana Jones film in which this idol is stolen by Indi signaled a real cultural pivot point for an awful lot of future geeks. I saw the film five times in it's initial theatrical run and have seen it countless times on various home entertainment formats since then. A high point of my visit to Forrest J. Ackermans house in the mid nineties was exploring his basement office and seeing the original being used as a paper weight. Never in my life have I been that tempted to steal something (I didn't). This is a grail item on a number of levels for me and countless other film fans and Sideshow Collectibles have done themselves proud and kept the price down as well. I've seen a lot of fertility idols over the years (and have two kids to prove it!) but this is by far the best. My favorite thing is it isn't top heavy and has a really nifty base that it sits securely on. In other words this thing won't topple at the slightest touch. This is also the shiniest example I've seen outside of custom work and the most exact in terms of likeness. Chrome plated with a gold finish over resin with measurements of 10" H x 10" W x 10" L and a weight of...you guessed it, about 10 lbs. The statue is removable from the base and felted on the bottom.
This thing is only $189.99 and is just begging to sit next to a hat, whip, or the inevitable Shankara stones that Sideshow is certain to put out. There are only 1500 of these and I would expect them to disappear very quickly. Get this now.
