As the guy who gets migraines from watching 3D (my Avatar IMAX-3D hang-over lasted several days), it seems strange that I would actively wish that Gaspar Noé's Enter The Void (all 156 minutes of it) would be retrofitted into the format. It would likely be the first feature film to really incorporate 3D into the narrative, but I digress. In a tidbit from (of all places) Hollywood Wiretap it seems that Noé is indeed making a 3D film. A "Joyful Porn Melodrama" (In the Festival rounds for Enter The Void, Noé was quoted saying "To make a good melodrama you need, sperm, blood and tears.") In terms of joyful porn melodrama, John Cameron Mitchell actually may have beat him to the punch with Short Bus, but .. 3D people! 3D is the future!)
Now if I wanted to monger-in-rumours, I would offer that this was code for actually retrofitting Enter The Void into the format, but I will resist and simply say that in the director's filmography, it seems that 3D Porn film may indeed be the logical end-point. Either way, Wild Bunch is ponying up the cash for this.
Thanks to Sean over at Filmjunk for the heads up.
