After his starring role in Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds as the German sniper Pvt Fredrick Zoller who falls in love with Shosanna Dreyfus, German actor Daniel Brühl is set to join the cast of another production beginning tomorrow in Iceland. The film will be a comedy-drama, Kóngavegur 7, set in a trailer trash neighbourhood. After 3 years abroad Junior returns to Iceland with his set of problems hoping that his father can sort them out but his homecoming isn't quite what he had expected. This will be the sophomore directorial effort for filmmaker Valdis Óskarsdottir, primarily known for her work as a film editor.
The German star Daniel Brühl (Goodbye Lenin, Inglourious Basterds) is going to play one of the leads along with the theatre group Vesturport in the Icelandic production of Kóngavegur 7 (Kingsroad 7), directed by acclaimed editor Valdis Óskarsdottir.
Vesturport is an assembled cast of Gísli Örn Garðarsson, Ólafur Egill Egilsson, Ingvar E. Sigurðsson, Nína Dögg Filippusdóttir and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson. They worked together in Börn (Children) and Foreldrar (Parents) by Ragnar Bragason and also on Sveitabrúðkaup (Country Wedding) by Miss Óskarsdóttir.
Kóngavegur 7 is produced by Mystery Island's Davíð Óskar Ólafsson, Hreinn Beck and Árni Filippusson.
Oskarsdottir won the prestigious BAFTA award for best editing for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
