Maggie Cheung is not a Basterd

Back in November, there was a rumor floating around that Hong Kong actress Maggie Cheung will have a minor role in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. The truth is Cheung actually did took part in the World War II film playing a cinema proprietress in Paris. However, to those who are anticipating to see her sophomore American film, I hate to reign on your parade but when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, all the scenes featuring her was left on the cutting floor. Despite the disappointing removal, she simply shrugged it off and took it in stride.

"He (Tarantino) called me from Cannes to explain that my scenes had to be cut to ensure the film's length. I really thought it was no big deal," Cheung told reporters as she and her boyfriend Ole Scheeren showed up at an art event in Hong Kong.

"It's quite common for actors," Cheung added.

What a classy lady. Its been five years since Cheung's last role and she doesn't have any immediate plans to get back to films anytime soon so lets hope Tarantino will release an extended version with her scene intact or at the very least, include it on the DVD as deleted scenes.
