ED WOOD DOUBLE FEATURE WITH CONRAD BROOKS IN ATTENDANCE!!

Proud and happy I to invite ya'll to a special monthly party I'm lucky enough to help out at. On Friday January 25 enjoy a double bill of Plan Nine from Outer Space and Bride of the Monster as well as the chance to meet Ed Wood friend and cast member Conrad Brooks.

I'd been looking for someone to join forces with in Chicagos horror community for quite a while when I was fortunate enough to meet John Aranza owner of the Horrorbles horror collectibles shop in Berwyn, Illinois. What started off as an offer to buy part of my collection grew into a friendship that has kept me pretty busy, so if you're wondering where Canfield has been suffice to say I've been attending lots of Horror conventions, helping run the store when John's not around, and loading product onto the Horrorbles website as well as doing a little standup comedy and working on my book project.

I’ll be interviewing Conrad from the stage which I’m really excited about. He’s quite the raconteur and a genuinely nice person and will also be judging our Glen or Glenda costume contest.

HORRORBLES ANNOUNCES DEBUT OF “CREATURE FEATURE FRIDAYS” AT HISTORIC PORTAGE THEATER - KICKING OFF WITH A VISIT FROM CONRAD BROOKS FOR JANUARYS’ - ED WOOD DOUBLE FEATURE
CHICAGO(Dec 30, 2007)

Who says you can’t be a kid again! Horrorbles owner John Aranza has announced sponsorship of a monthly Creature Feature film series at the historic Portage Theater. Shows will be held once a month and will include a variety of surprise guests, contests and other random fun. Januarys’ event promises to kick-off the festival in style as Horrorbles welcomes Conrad Brooks as the evenings honored guest. Brooks is most well known as a horror and science fiction cult actor, featured in all of Ed Wood’s films as well as in the Tim Burton biopic Ed Wood.
Showing on the big screen that evening will be an Ed Wood double feature beginning with Bride of the Monster followed by Plan 9 from Outer Space. These films are vintage horror camp and promise to bring viewers back in time. The evening will begin with an autograph session with Mr. Brooks (7-8PM) followed directly by the first film, Bride of the Monster. At intermission a Q&A session with Mr. Brooks will take place followed by a Wood inspired “Glen or Glenda” costume contest to be judged by Brooks, where contestants will compete for prizes from Horrorbles.

Regarding the inspiration for the film festival at The Portage, Horrorbles owner John Aranza stated “This is to be a series Chicagoans have long been hungry for!” According to Aranza, February’s offering will be My Bloody Valentine, showing appropriately on February 15th, the Friday following Valentine’s Day with Svengoolie! The ticket price to view the January Ed Wood Creature Features is $10. The complete line up for the year is still being finalized, but will appear as available on the Horrorbles website as details are confirmed.
