Perhaps there is a bit of fear and trepidation in the film-geek community about hyping up a martial arts/family film directed by the guy who helmed
The Lion King and
Stuart Little.
Forbidden Kingdom tells an American kid accidentally travels back to the Ancient China by a magic [staff] and he has to team up with three masters to rescue the Monkey King. We want to love this film because it has teamed up Jet Li and Jackie Chan. By golly, this is a match made in heaven. Me? I'm playing my 'wait and see' card. Here we see our four leads in full costume - (L to R) Michael Angarano, Jet Li, Liu Yifei and Jackie Chan.

On a bright note though. In the 'don't lose hope' files Jackie Chan actually said in his blog that he had not had so much fun from fighting with someone since he fought for 15/16 years. He had such satisfaction while fighting with Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao many years ago. In this Hollywood production, Jackie Chan and Jet Li got fight with each other for the first time. Jackie said there fighting moves were so quick that director Rob Minkoff and cinematographer Peter Pau decided to slow down the camera speed (They are using a digital camera this time).
