Fantasia 2023: The First Wave is Here! Premieres Galore From Gans, The Adams Family, and More. Larry Kent to Receive Trailblazer Award

The impending summer means it's nearly time for our annual trip to Montreal with the Fantasia International Film Festival! We'll have multiple members of the Screen Anarchy team on the ground again this year, ready and eager to let you know about the freshest genre cinema the universe has to offer.

This year's first wave of programming has arrived and it's every bit as impressive as we'd expect. World premieres from horror's first family, Toby Poser, John Adams, and Zelda Adams with Where the Devil Roams, Frontiere(s) director Xavier Gens hotly anticipated Mayhem, Larry Fessenden does lycanthropy with Blackout, Nicholas Tomany with What You Wish For, The Ranger's Jenn Wexler's sophomore feature The Sacrifice Game, and many, many more.

This year sees the festival celebrating Larry Kent with the Canadian Trailblazer Award, as well as honoring South Korean cinema with retro and premiere screenings of the third film in The Outlaws series, The Roundup: No Way Out, alongside retro screenings of Please Take Care of My Cat and The President's Last Bang. And that's only the beginning!

Fantasia takes place in Montreal from July 20th through August 9th, the full lineup wil be available in July, but you can check out the rest of the first wave in the gallery below
