Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead made genre nuts swoon over the Frankensteinian affair that is their sophomore feature, Spring. The film, which tells the story of a young man who falls in love with a mysterious woman in France, is a worthy follow-up to the two's equally unnerving psychological thriller, Resolution. The filmmaking duo has announced previously that they are working on a third feature called The Endless, of which little information has since been offered, except that the two are set to direct and star in it.
We now know that Benson and Moorhead are to play the role of "two brothers who return to the death cult from which they fled a decade ago, to find that there might be some truth to the group’s otherworldly beliefs". That sounds right up the two's alley; it is worth noting, too, that religion, or one resembling it anyway, is a logical next-step after touching issues of addiction and grief in their two previous films.
The news comes fresh from Entertainment Weekly, who along with plot details shared a handful of still images from the film, which you can see below. The Endless is slated for a 2017 release.
