Trailer: Salman Khan Wrestles With Fate In SULTAN

Salman Khan is back on the big screen this Eid with his new film Sultan.

Sultan tells the story of a washed up wrestler fighting for redemption. It's the kind of comeback story that Hollywood has filmed a million times, though probably with fewer song and dance numbers.

Normally I'm not a huge Salman Khan fan, I've seen his last few films and he really comes across as wooden. However, he always seems to surround himself with big talent so I'll often go along for the ride. In his last film, box office champ Bajrangi Bhaijaan, he had Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Gangs of Wasseypur, Raman Raghav 2.0, MIss Lovely) as a co-star. Nawaz also co-starred in Khan's Kick from a few years back. For Sultan, the producers have wisely hired Anushka Sharma (NH10, PK) to play opposite Salman, though I fear she'll be relegated to a relatively minor role as his films tend to be all about the testosterone.

Another interesting thing about Sultan is the heavy they've hired for the film. He isn't being pushed in the promo material yet, but South American martial arts rising star Marko Zaror has confirmed on his Facebook page that he will be fighting - and most likely losing to - Salman Khan in Sultan, so that's something to look out for. Zaror isn't the first non-Indian to feature in Indian action. Other performers like Nathan Jones (The Legend) and Johnny Tri Nguyen (Tom Yum Goong) have gone this route before. Zaror doesn't feature in this trailer, but I'm sure his presence will eventually be revealed.

Sultan is scheduled to open on July 6th
