Til Schweiger Comes In Bullets Blazing In NICK: OFF DUTY

How big a star is Til Schweiger in his native Germany? Well, how's this for an indicator: After appearing in just four episodes of long running German cop show Tatort - a series that has been more or less in continuous production since 1970 - the Inglorious Basterds support player has gone and landed himself a spinoff movie of his own. To put it in context that'd be like taking a four episode character from Law And Order and giving them their own film.

Titled Tschiller: Off Duty in Germany - and apparently Nick: Off Duty everywhere else, because that title is going to inspire people to seek it out - Antibodies and Pandorum director Christian Alvart directs.

Tough Hamburg cop Nick Tschiller lost his wife to the Turkish Mafia. When his teen daughter Lenny runs away to Istanbul to avenge her mother, Nick and his partner Yalcin go after her and find her in the hands of ruthless Russian gangsters. Lenny is abducted to Moscow and winds up in an organ harvesting clinic. Nick has to race against time to save his daughter's life ..
Realism is clearly not particularly what they're going for here, instead opting to let Schweiger meld his tough guy image and comedic sensibilities. Check out the trailer below.
