Fantastic Fest 2015 Exclusive: DER BUNKER U.S. Trailer And Poster Bring The Weirdness

Fantastic Fest 2015 is nearly upon us, and so begins the flood of amazing oddities into the world of film fanatics. Among the oddest we've yet seen is the eccentric German export Der Bunker. ScreenAnarchy is proud to bring you the exclusive US premiere of the trailer (largely the same as the original German trailer, though now subtitled and including the new associations) and brand new US poster!.

Director Nikias Chryssos's Der Bunker will have its U.S. premiere at Fantastic Fest, and the film has already been picked up for North American distribution by Philadelphia based Artsploitation Films. Artsploitation currently plans to keep the film on the festival circuit though early 2016 with a Blu-ray/DVD release tentatively planned for spring of next year. Here's what Artsploitation has to say about the film:
With his surrealistic and dark, yet strangely heart-warming approach towards an unusual family's world, Der Bunker's director Nikias Chryssos may well be the nephew of John Waters and the illegitimate son of David Lynch and Luis Buñuel.

A student rents a windowless room in a bunker home nestled deep within a forest. Here, instead of finding tranquility for his studies, the young man becomes increasingly involved in the dramas of his landlord's family. They include the stern father, his wife (whose swollen leg almost takes a life of its own) and their precocious 8-year-old son Klaus who, despite being German and "learning-challenged," is being home groomed to become the President of the United States. Initially friendly and welcoming, the situation becomes increasingly bizarre. A funny, visually arresting and a bit unsettling modern fairy tale.

The trailer hints at the weirdness, but our fearless leader Todd Brown has seen the film and assures us that it "doesn't even scratch the surface of how weird this film is." Count me in! I definitely get the vibe of a less obtuse Dogtooth from this one, and I love that film to death. Der Bunker has its North American premiere at the festival on Friday, September 25th, and you can bet we'll have a review up shortly thereafter!

For now, enjoy the newly translated US Trailer for Der Bunker.
